Description
***6 figure restoration By Rick Nelson of Musclecar Restoration and Design with less than 900 miles since completion***This 1970 Chevelle SS 396/375, M21, 3.55 positraction, fully documented with original build sheet. Complete nut and bolt frame off restoration finished in 2020. The engine block is a correct dated GM CE052157 stamped 3969854 casting and dated August 11, 1969. The transmission is a M21, with a September 24, 1969 assembly date. The rear differential is the correct CKF 12 bolt 3.55 positraction assembled on October 7. The car was assembled the 5th week of October 1970 with a build sheet assembly date of 10/27/1969. The factory build sheet is included and the original to the car, not a copy or a reproduction. All of the engine components are correct for the car including the Holley 4557 carb dated July 5th week of 1969, the intake is the correct 6963569, exhaust manifolds are correct and dated August 13 and 14, 1969, the distributor is 1112000 dated 9 H 19, August 19, 1969, 1108418 starter dated 9 G 10, water pump 3969811 dated Jan 9, 1969, alternator 1100837 dated 9 H 2, 40768 fuel pump, correct 8 high performance only timing cover, correct pulleys and smog. The owner desired radial tires to be installed on the restoration instead of the original bias ply as he intended on driving. An extensive amount of research was done to insure that the correct color blue interior was used in the restoration. All items of the interior were either rebuilt/restored or replaced. All gauges were either rebuilt or at the least cleaned up. Every component on the car from the brake light switch to the engine was disassembled, cleaned, rebuilt and restored. Nothing was left as delivered. It is essentially a new car. The body was restored with NOS quarter panels with the rest of the sheet metal being original to the car. All body imperfections were addressed, cut out and replaced. There are 735 photos of the body restoration alone with an additional 2762 photos showing the entire rest of the restoration of the car with nothing being hidden. When restored the correct factory colored primers were used such as black e-coat on the front clip and a Rosette colored primer on the rest of the body. In addition, the correct wash out black was used over the top of the belly pan as well as the firewall area in accordance with how the Leeds Kansas factory originally painted it. This very rare convertible is one of approximately 20 L78 convertibles that are known to exist today making it one of the rarest Chevelles ever produced. Please call or email today for more information
